A unit of the telecom Giant, Verizon Business Network Services finally agreed to pay around 4.1 million dollars to the US in order to resolve the U.S. allegations. As per the accusations, Verizon did not follow the required cybersecurity standards that were meant to be followed.
The U.S. Department said that the unit of Verizon Service which provides completely secured internet connections and other networks to federal agencies fails to maintain the utmost three required cybersecurity controls that were mentioned in the contracts between 2017 to 2021.
In his statement Deputy Assistant Attorney General Michael Granston said,
“When government contractors fail to follow required cybersecurity standards, they may jeopardize the security of sensitive government information and information systems,”
