Facebook News feature will be discontinued on the social media app Facebook in the UK, France, and Germany this year disclosed by META. Users of Facebook can still be able to view the links to articles.
Facebook News is a feed of news articles that has a dedicated tab in the bookmark section of the Facebook app.
Meta revealed that European publishers will be able to have access to their Facebook accounts or pages after the change. The changes might be integrated in December. But now Facebook cut off its feature to publish new content on Facebook News or offer product innovations for news publishers in the above-mentioned countries.
Meta said in a blog post.”News makes up less than 3% of what people around the world see in their Facebook feed, so news discovery is a small part of the Facebook experience for the vast majority of people,”
In competition with the big tech company Alphabet (Google), Meta faced different legal affairs from various lawmakers around the world. And the ROI is not that good in the news section. They have to pay a higher percentage to news publishers for their advertising revenue.
