Whatsapp’s product director, Alice Newton-Rexin in a CNBC interview stated about the platform that it remains open to diverse monetisation  and also stated that “ haven’t fixed on any one thing yet .”

WhatsApp remained an anomaly in Meta’s portfolio after having users almost over 2 billion all over the world. Instagram relies on advertisement whereas Whatsapp doesn’t and it is the primary source of revenue for Facebook. 

It can stay far from Meta’s ventures into met verse by generating a little bit of Instagram’s revenue. According to the reports of CNBC, there are some challenges in WhatsApp DNA. 

The advertising industry was criticized by Jan Koum and Brain Acton in 2012 by stating that “no one wakes up excited to see more advertising”. Whatsapp apparently is considered as the app for private messaging which doesn’t indulge in advertising.
