Chandrayaan-3’s Pragyan Rover Takes Its First Steps On The Moon: Watch The Video!

Chandrayaan-3

The ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) has just shared a clip that captures the moment when the Chandrayaan-3 stepped onto the moon’s surface. They have also released the first still image that was captured of the rover and also of the mission lander – that got taken from the orbit.

Even though the Pragyan rover did disembark from the “landing platform” last Wednesday, August 23rd at 11 p.m. – the Space Research Organization only released the footage of the historic moment a day later.

The footage has been taken by the camera which is present on Vikram (“Valor” in Sanskrit language) lander. It shows the Pragyaan with its solar panel placed vertically and deployed just like a sail – rolling into a ramp and leaving tracks in the lunar dust of the moon’s surface as its wheels touched it for the first time.

There’s also the presence of a separate clip that shows the sequence of events with the ramp door of the lander opening and revealing the deployment of the rover’s solar panel.

This is truly a historic and proud moment for all of the Indians.
